Releasing Fear: Moving from Fear to Love

Releasing Fear: Moving from Fear to Love

Sometimes things feel scary, making releasing fear difficult.

Whether it’s a diagnosis or a symptom, or updates on the coronavirus, circumstances or events can trigger our nervous system and our mind is off to the races making negative predictions, worrying, and catastrophizing.

It happens to all of us.

It’s how that protective part of our brain works. Constantly scanning our environment for possible danger, going on high alert when there are unknowns that have the potential to impact our health or safety, or the health and safety of people we love.

At times like these it really helps to have some powerful tools to bring you back to your center, calm your nervous system, and reconnect you to yourself…to love, joy, and appreciation.

Doing that—releasing fear— not only helps you feel better in the moment, but it also promotes healing and boosts your immune system.

This week, I’ll admit that following the news has had my lizard brain a little more active than usual, and I’ve gotten lots of practice using mind body tools to calm my nervous system and reconnect to love and joy, releasing fear.

The thing that I keep falling back on is connecting to love.

It’s simple, easy, and effective, which makes it perfect for any time you’re feeling scared or overwhelmed.

Love heals, and the good news is that you have the power to access all the love you need, anytime you need it. No matter what else is going on in your life or in the world.

Here’s what to do…

Connect to your body.

Place a hand on your heart and take a few nice gentle breaths into your low belly. Your body lives in the present moment, and in this moment, you are safe. Connecting to your body helps to remind your brain of this. It’s a way of releasing fear.

It also helps to take a minute to feel your feet on the floor or lie down and feel the support of the surface beneath you. Notice the point of contact between your body and the bed, couch, or floor. Allow yourself to be supported. There is nothing you have to do right now except breathe and be.

Fill yourself up with love.

Imagine that there is a valve in your heart that has gotten a little dusty and that you can blow on or dust off. When you do, a beautiful golden light begins to flow into your heart through the valve.

Allow this pure positive LOVE energy to fill your heart and then expand into the rest of your body. Imagine it filling every cell with its healing energy.

Once you’ve imagined filling up your entire body, you can flow this light out into the space around you, even imagine sending it to anyone else you think may need it.

Love heals.

For me reminding myself that no matter what, I can choose to focus on love, fill myself up with it, and flow it into the world around me is a powerful way to not only shift out of fear, but access the most powerful healing tool available for myself and the planet…love.

At times when it seems like everything is going wrong, flowing love is a powerful tool in releasing fear.

I encourage you to give it a try.

Sending lots of love your way.
